Like its forerunner, the K-12 course, the tertiary version of the postgraduate Learning Technologies program gives students:The tertiary version of the learning technologies course is presented via both the World Wide Web and on a CD-ROM; no campus attendance is required. The content includes:
- A comprehensive understanding of a range of information technologies;
- The confidence and competence to use appropriate technologies to access, retrieve, analyse, interpret, evaluate, synthesise, apply, use and communicate information;
- The confidence and competence to use desktop computers, networks, keyboarding/word processing/desktop publishing, spreadsheets, multimedia and telecommunications, to develop, use, evaluate and communicate instruction materials;
- The confidence and competence to develop and implement fully online multimedia courses (offered via the WWW and multi-platform CD-ROMs); and
- The experience in practical and appropriate research and development skills, and reflective teaching and learning, appropriate to a tertiary environment.
There are ten "core modules" in the 2-semester sequence. They cover:
- A set of "core" teaching modules
- A set of "Personal Computing Tutorials"
- Access to a huge library of networked multimedia (both CD-ROM and the Internet)
- A suite of synchronous and asynchronous communication tools, including email, bulletin boards, news groups and chat rooms.
